Guys I finally got around to printing posters that are way better and less pricey than the other ones I had for sale! You can check them out at my Etsy shop here. If you don’t have the funds contact me, I’m definitely understanding of that issue being a broke college student and very open to trades, bartering, negotiation, etc.

i saw that girl's rant about how you stole her tattoo idea for your star crossed lovers drawing but seriously that isn't some original idea that only one person can have ownership over like i'm sure if you google sun and moon kissing it's been drawn and tattooed by tons of people tons of different time i don't get why she took it so personally

Firstly, I’d like to say that “that girl” is someone who I value and respect very deeply. I, like you, thought that the themes of sun and moon being lovers were common ones but regardless none of my intentions regarding that drawing seem to have manifested in ways I would have wanted or expected—I didn’t intend for it to get so popular that I would be discovering stolen and edited versions virtually biweekly, I didn’t intend for people to get it tattooed without my knowledge, I didn’t intend for a person I care about to feel so wronged by it all. The point that I seem to have realized far too late, and you have failed to realize at all, is that tattoos are incredibly personal things. I didn’t think I was stealing her personal idea when I drew the sun and the moon because I’d seen the sun and moon done so many times in so many different ways it wasn’t a personal image to me, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have personal significance to her. Of course you should take things that are personal to you personally. The issue wasn’t that I was so aware of her tattoo that I purposely stole the idea from her, but that I wasn’t aware or sensitive enough to something so personal to her that I didn’t treat it with the appropriate reverence one should accord personal things. And now I’m getting a taste of my own medicine as people edit and butcher and copy and take credit for something personal to me—my art—without even intending to, without even knowing it was me that drew it. But the point is that hurt caused unintentionally still hurts.

It was late and I was walking back to Capitol Hill from downtown with some friends and we were stopped outside Hot Mama’s Pizza waiting on the curb while our friend got something to eat inside and as I went to sit down I let out this big sigh and said very over dramatically, “I’m just so thirsty” and this man sitting on the sidewalk reached out his hand and offered me the remnants of what was left in his water bottle. My friend had offered me her water at the same time so I thanked him and said my friend had some so I didn’t need his and I’m standing there drinking from her Nalgene when the magnitude of the gesture hit me—here’s this guy about to spend the night on the streets of Seattle with a cardboard sign at his feet reading “Just trying to survive” and he’s still capable of such empathy to offer the rest of his water to an overly dramatic college student. So I offered to buy him pizza and I guess he’d already eaten some so I bought him an orange soda instead and told him to keep on surviving. But what a truly moving display of non-duality and human compassion on his part. I keep going back to it in my mind and glowing with love and gratitude for him, and you, and me, and all beings.

Collages for design and color. Emulating lots of death and nature. They were supposed to be inspired by an artist I forgot the name of. Anyhow, I’m working on a really big detailed mandala piece in my giant Moleskine and timing how long it’s taking me with a stopwatch (5:55:09 so far). I really hope no one steals it when I post it because I can feel a lot of myself being poured into it and am quite invested already.

Self-portrait for my design and color course. The idea is you grid off a photo and try to work square by square based on the different greyscale values you see, abstracting and forgetting what your drawing is part of an eyebrow, nostril, pupil, etc. Art in school is such a neat deal.

Have you ever eaten at Mama's Kitchen. I don't even live in seattle but it is my all time favourite mexican, their salsa is fantastic!

No but I definitely will now, that sounds awesome! I’m from Southern California and I’ve been dearly missing good Mexican food but I’ve been a little hesitant to try Mexican places up here since I never have any money to eat out and I’m worried without a testimony or recommendation it’ll be a bummer since I’m spoiled off that “authentic” stuff.

i'll be in seattle for the day to see a show, anywhere you'd recommend going? favourite shops, places to eat?

GO TO CAPITOL HILL! I’m a little biased cause that’s my neighborhood but it’s actually a really cool part of the city, there are lots of really good places to eat and shop on Broadway, I’d definitely recommend Red Light vintage, Oddfellows is a really really good cafe on 10th, it’s kinda pricey though so I basically never go unless my parents are visiting, Elliott Bay is a really great bookstore/cafe that’s also on 10th and definitely worth checking out. There’s also really good ramen on Broadway that’s not too expensive and has vegetarian and vegan options. I don’t know where your concert is but if it’s downtown it’s really easy to get to Capitol Hill via bus! Car is likely even easier but I don’t have one of those. Anywho, hope you have an awesome time in Seattle, definitely let me know if you do anything neat or noteworthy!

I feel like I definitely don’t communicate as much of myself on here as I would like to partially because I feel like the art probably does a better job speaking for me anyways and partially because I feel like no one is all that interested in hearing me bullshit but I do have a voice to form thoughts that manifest in ways other than art though so I’ll do better to use it. Also I’d really like to talk to you guys about things I’m excited about that maybe some of you are excited about too. I don’t think I’ve talked much about this before but my weekly meditation group is having its annual Sesshin (all day meditation) in a couple of weeks so I’m really excited for that especially as a precursor for the ten day Vipassana meditation I’m doing in September. And if meditation isn’t your thing I’ve got a lot of concerts/music festivals lined up in my future and I’d love to hear about some neat musical experiences you guys are having too so anywho I’m a human being with real person interests and this is beginning to sound like an eharmony profile uh oh date me

Thanks so much! That’d be way neat, I’ve definitely considered if before and I’d definitely consider it again it although it would entail taking a lot of photos of myself which might be slightly more of a commitment than what I’d be up for with my current hectic life but maybe over summer or even next quarter depending on how much shit I have to do on average for my new set of classes. Unfortunately I’m quite out of touch with the formal fashion world so I wouldn’t have much of anything constructive to say but if everyone’s cool with that I’m cool with that.

What a keen observation, my right eye is -2.00 and my left is -2.50. I think. Hooray poor eyesight! Honestly I think mine gets worse on the daily just from all close up detail work I do in my art, not to mention the tons of reading and writing I do for school and fun.
